Made By Me #87

I had to hunt for this fabric but boy was it worth it!  I managed to track it down on Fabric.com and it ended up in my basket with 5 other dresses worth.  I really don't know how that happened?!  I always worry about customs charges when ordering from overseas, sometimes they seem totally made up and excessive.  That said it is definitely worth it.  I ordered 3 yards of each fabric which would have roughly have cost me £30 per dress to buy in the UK.  Including shipping and customs they worked out to around £18 a dress from Fabric.com.  A total steal.  Plus I hadn't been able to find all of the fabrics or colourways over here so it put pay to hours wasted looking on google.

I thought about how I wanted the dots when cutting the pattern out.  The pink and orange bits are my favourite combination so I made sure they were on the front of both sleeves and most visible in the skirt.  I wanted all of the colours in the bodice so it tied it all together.  I am finding I am paying more attention to pattern layout than before and ordering a bit more fabric for checks or fabrics with distinct patterns as they really do not look as good if they are not matched up especially on the skirt.  I am really pleased with how this dress has turned out, it has definitely joined the Emery dress favourites pile!
