Made By Me #19

This is one of those fabrics that just doesn't come across well when photographed.  It is the loveliest print, covered in different coloured rain drops in varying shades of grey and red.  It isn't perfect though, it has a bit of a texture that makes it stick to my tights and annoy me.  I resolved this with a slip but I guess it won't be an issue when it's too hot for black tights.  It looks as if the sleeves on this one are a bit tight in the photos, they really are not and I couldn't be bothered to take the photos again so hey ho.  I often wonder if any of my neighbours have noticed us taking photos in the garden and what they think we are up to.  I used to feel that our neighbours in the flat must have commented on the number of parcels I bought home from work every day! haha.  I'm not paranoid, honest!!

Dress: Made by me using Washday Rain by Makower
Shoes: M&S

I've not had much time for sewing in the last week, I have only sewn one evening and made one dress and am getting serious withdrawals.  Why aren't there more hours in the day?!

  2. This dress looks great!!! The fit look really good on you! Your Emery collection must be huge now!!! Will you be making any strappy ones in the summer? I'm itching to try dress making but Roisin's next course is full and I couldn't make the last ones! X

    1. I will come say hi if you do make it to one of Roisin's courses, let me know! Worth waiting for. Collection is now 31!! Unlikely I will make any strappy dresses, would only mean I need to wear a cardigan if I did!

  3. I'm so jealous of your sewing skills! I also feel that way about packages that I get to my apartment, sometimes neighbors will be kind enough to bring them into the building and leave them in front of our door and I think they now know I have a shopping problem.

  5. Hello! Hope you've had a lovely Easter. Please can I ask where is the best place to get dress-making fabric? I've finally got my sewing machine set up and bought a simple pattern for a top which I'm hoping to attempt next weekend but have no idea where to buy some lovely dress making material from. Thank you Ruth x x

    1. Hi Ruth. Most of my dresses are made from quilting cotton rather than dress fabric, I personally prefer it. Try Plush Addict, they sell quilting cottons but also dressmaking fabrics. Look forward to seeing your make!
