Made By Me #9

After the disappointment of dress 8, dress 9 turned out to be a total winner!  Thank goodness.  I loved this fabric when I saw it online but wasn't sure how it would work on a dress, it's pretty hard to sometimes even get the scale of the print from most online fabric shops. I tend to google the fabric to see if I can find it on the bolt or already made into clothing.  I decided to take the plunge anyway and I am so glad I did.  It's maybe a bit too twee for some tastes but hey if that's the case you probably won't like the majority of my wardrobe anyway!  It's the little birds that make it for me, hey there tweetie pie.  I am also so proud of the darts on this dress, equal to the nearest millimetre... yep I did measure them!

It's strange that even though I am also wearing this dress with black tights I don't feel the same about it as I did number 8.  I have also decided that this one will be better with elbow length sleeves so will also be taking these ones up when I get chance. I love longer length sleeves but kinda forgot the weather is about to warm up and those few extra inches will make all the difference.

Dress: Made by me using Jungle Clouds fabric by Makower
Pattern: Emery by Christine Haynes
Shoes: asos

I've not had that much time to sew this week, getting impatient wanting more pretty dresses to wear.  I am off to the Sewing for Pleasure show on Sunday with Char, I've not been before so if there is anything I need to keep an eye out for let me know in the comments!

  1. I have had no time to sew. I pinned my next 2444 (I'm such a bore!) out this morning as I couldn't sleep, but I don't think I'll be home before 9.30 this eve so I'm not convinced it's going to be done anytime soon.

    1. I buy 3 metres, but add sleeves and self line the bodice. You could make this dress with 2 metres if you did it sleeveless & use cheap cotton for lining :)
