Grace Face

I have had such a lovely weekend!  Gray went to visit a friend for the weekend so Char came to stay, we did a bit of fabric shopping with Roisin and then spent Sunday at the Dolly Clackett sewing bee!  I made my very own dress!! I am like a proud mother.  It was such fun, more on that tomorrow.  We were kindly invited to Malmaison in Birmingham to sample their prix fixe menu as we couldn't make the amazing bloggers brunch they threw recently.  We were treated to two courses of yummy food which was so worth battling against the gale force winds trying to keep us from getting there, we looked a bit windswept to say the least.  The service was as good as the food, nothing was too much trouble including switching the veggie options as not all veggies eat goats cheese.  I went for pate for starter and steak frites for my main, mmmm!

I spied this dress in Blighty Bazaar in Leamington just before Christmas and even though it wasn't my size there was a business card for the dressmaker which meant I had to wait til I got home and sent an email to see if I could get my own version!  A quick reply later and I was sending over my measurements and ordering my pretty little checked dress.  Isn't it pretty?!  The inside of the bodice is lined with the same floral fabric and I love the almost gingham check.  This is the same kind of check as the navy dress my Mum made me for my birthday.

  3. It's such a cute dress. I love gingham especially red, although it's the colour of the dresses the children wear at my school in the summer so I definitely couldn't get away with it for work! x

  5. Oh, that dress is fabulous! I did see a sneak peek of your spectacular raccoon fabric on Roisin's blog and am eagerly awaiting the reveal. I've shamelessly planned to sew copycat my own dress out of the same fabric.
