Win a £100 ASOS voucher courtesy of eHarmony UK

It's been a while since I had a first date, my husband Gray and I will be celebrating our second wedding anniversary next month.  I can still remember what I wore though, a navy polka dot dress, navy tights and gold cut out brogues.  I put a lot of thought into my outfit, I was really nervous!  Gray and I met through friends and had kept our date a secret so I wanted something I felt good in and that was comfortable to help ease those nerves.  Both of these things rank highly for me when choosing the right outfit for a first date.  Obviously everyone wants to look their best but it is also important to feel good and be comfortable - I cannot emphasis how important it is to be comfortable in what you are wearing.  If you feel self conscious and keep adjusting your outfit it will show.

My love of dresses is well documented so it will come as no surprise to you that when eHarmony UK challenged me to find the perfect outfit for a first date I headed straight for the dress section of ASOS.  This pretty jacquard skater dress ticks all the boxes, it is cute without being try hard and is cut in the most flattering shape.  I would pair it with these block heeled dolly shoes and a pair of sparkly earrings for a bit of understated glamour.

The most exciting part of this post is I have partnered with eHarmony UK to give you the opportunity of winning your very own perfect date outfit to add to your dating wardrobe.  That will take care of one of the stresses of dating!  They have offered up a very generous £100 ASOS gift voucher to give away to a lucky reader.

Thankfully eHarmony finds you compatible matches all over the UK, so you can avoid the date that never seems to end.  We've all had them, you realise you have nothing in common, the conversation runs dry and you are looking around desperately for an escape route.  They believe in quality over quantity.  Part of the prize is a three month membership to eHarmony UK so you can try it out for yourself.  But, if like me, you are already in a relationship it is transferable so you can transfer it to someone in need and hopefully spread a bit of happiness in the process.

Please pay attention to the requirement entries, the first four are all mandatory - you need to do all four to be entered into the giveaway.

To enter you need to use the Rafflecopter widget below, the T&Cs can be found within the widget.  The extra entries are optional but the more you do the more chance you have.  The prize is £100 voucher for ASOS plus a transferable three month membership to eHarmony UK.

1. Follow a million dresses via GFC
2. Leave a comment below.  See the widget for further information
3. Follow eHarmony UK on Twitter
4. Send out a little tweet, see the widget for more info
5. You can also like eHarmony UK on Facebook
6. And follow me on bloglovin' for an extra two entries

The giveaway is open to UK residents only and closes on Friday 18th October at 2pm

Good luck guys!

  15. Fab giveaway! I couldn't bring myself to 'like' on facebook as that would cause a lot of gossip haha!
My dating disaster is actually horendous and was quite scary at the time! I'd met a guy on a night out and we'd been texting for a while, we arranged to meet and I assumed we would be going somewhere nice, he took me up a mountain in his car and we sat in the car in the car park. He actually randomly flashed me his man bits! How very random, no kinky stuff or anything he literally just flashed me and then put it away! Needless to say there wasn't a second date!

I'm quite fancying introducing a bit of velvet to my wardrobe this year so would be very tempted by these two dresses.

  20. I was on a blind date, set up by my lovely ex best friend. The guy only had half an ear and I couldn't stop staring at it. Plus he decided to entertain me by doing horse galloping impressions. I made sure he dropped me at the wrong address, at the end of the evening, so he wouldn't know where I lived.

  21. Mine's not my dating disaster but my neighbour's. A few weeks ago she went out for a meal on a first date with a guy she used to go to school with. When they brought their food the guy said 'I hope you don't mind, I'm waiting for some new teeth so I'll have to take my false teeth out to eat' & subsequently put his false teeth on the table throughout the meal. Needless to say there was no second date

  25. oh my god my worst date is a tale, it was an old boyfriend and we had arranged to go for a meal and he had gone on about how romantic it was going to be. I don't know whether he was lying or he genuinely thought that this was romantic but he led me to the local kebab house and asked what I wanted, I went with the flow and ordered a kebab thinking that the romantic side might be were we went to eat it. After paying for my own kebab I was led through the streets in the rain (regretting getting dressed up) until we stopped outside the local supermarket and he sat down on the floor! YEP that was our romantic meal sheltered under the doorway of a supermarket like a tramp! It was terrible I made my excuses and left and the relationship didn't really last much longer !!

  30. I had been on a few dates with a guy and thought he seemed quite nice. On one particular day he had mentioned he was going to get a new tattoo on his wrist. Later that night I was out in a bar with my friends, and he called me to say he was around and would come and say hello. We were chatting and I suddenly remembered the tattoo, so I asked to see what he got. I tried to flip his wrist over to see, but he went really stiff so I couldn't see it. He said "Umm, you won't like it". I made him show me, and he was right: it was the name of his girlfriend. Of three years. Who he lived with. UM, RIGHT.

  122. I was taken to a rather posh restaurant, during the main course I noticed something hard and crunchy, trying to discreetly work out what it was I discovered it was the crown off my front tooth. I got up and ran to the ladies room, and while I salvaged the crown, was nothing I could do to put it back. I returned to the table, he assumed I had run off to be sick! I then explained (talking with my hand in front of my mouth so he couldn't see the gap), I couldn't finish my food and he had to take me home, are still together 11 years later so it didn't put him off!

  143. I met my husband on the internet 14 years ago, before dating sites and when the only way you could chat was either yahoo messenger or MSN messenger. I began talking to my now husband and arranged to meet (i was 16 he was 18) he drove 100 miles from wigan to carlisle.
When he arrived i saw his face, he smiled and so did i, my then Boyfriend did not find this amusing and did not know what was going on, on getting into his car i introduced my boyfriend to the boy i had just met, from this point i decided to drop off my boyfriend at his house in Ulverston to which mark replied "good idea". We then had a quite frosty drive back down the M6 to ulverston, dropped my boyfriend off and well mark to me to south lakes zoo where we had a blast. The next day i left my boyfriend for my now husband, 14 years on we have 3 children and i live in wigan, looks like it was the right decision on the day.

  145. When I was fourteen I went on a blind date, only I took that somewhat literally as didn't want him to know I wore glasses despite being a minus eight (ie. can't see my hand in front of my face). So I popped the specs in my jacket pocket and we went for a lovely walk around the woods. As we kissed goodbye I realised the specs had fallen out along the way - cue a tearful confession and two hours of scouting through undergrowth until we found them! Dated him for four years and we're still good friends!

I got talking to someone online and we agreed to meet up and go for a drink, he took me back to his, which was a right mess and stank, smoked loads, blowing it at me, then kept trying to grope me. He obviously thought he was going to have his way with me, even though I said that was not going to happen when I didn't really know him. I couldn't wait to get home and get washed to wash all the smell out. Needless to say, I never saw him again and avoided any calls!!

I've never really been one for disaster dates only because I've never actually been on many dates! Little b and I try to have date night, but this mostly revolves around going to Prezzon and ordering the same food every single time! I guess that's not a disaster, and has nothing to do with it! Anyway if I won this voucher I think I would treat myself to some smock dresses - cause you can never have too many right? And like they say if it ain't broke don't fix it! Haha xx

I can't think of any real dating disasters, although there was one time I was in a long distance relationship - the guy travelled up to see me for my birthday, and after too many "celebrations" the evening finished (at about 10pm) with him holding back my hair. Lovely. Needless to say we are no longer together, but I have a far better man now, so it all worked out okay in the end! If I won I'd use the voucher for some black biker boots.
