Limited Edition

Marks and Spencer are having a good season, you know this to be the case when you see blogs full of M&S wishlists and girls who usually stick to 'younger' high street stores popping into M&S to get that must have item.  I usually only visit M&S for underwear, cardigans and food (three things they do better than most I must add)  It was on a trip looking for some navy tights that I spotted these red boots.  I had been looking for some red flats to wear with this Abigail dress with no avail so couldn't believe my luck when I spotted these.  I thought red boots would be a bit garish but boy was I wrong.  They are so bloody comfy too and come in black if you don't want your boots to be so in your face.  My love of these boots combined with the blog posts popping up all over the place got me to looking through the rest of the collection which is when I decided I also needed the tartan flight bag.  And it is a beauty I am sure you will agree.  It has a cross over strap too but I have been happy swinging it around the last couple of days.  I am keeping my eye on the new arrivals section to see if there are any more must have items.

Bag: M&S
Boots: M&S

I will share this dress with you again soon, it is pretty cute but I am not sure it's worth the price tag if I am absolutely honest.  It's only really in this post as I didn't want a dress that would distract from the boots and bag and it wouldn't have been a good move to be in my bra and pants.  Ha!  I couldn't get this dress out of my head so went ahead and ordered it.  I needed a dress the night it arrived so it got worn, if I hadn't it might have been a return.  Don't get me wrong I do like it and it is a pretty good staple but I could have got a few dresses for the same price and may have loved them more.  I am resisting the urge to buy so many boots at the moment!  Rosie has a pair of cut out boots from New Look that I think I need in my life, I love so many of their current leather Chelsea boot designs too.

I hope you all had a good weekend, I had a lovely relaxing one.  I was good and didn't treat myself to any further dresses even though the temptation was high!  I did treat Gray to some jeans from Intro Clothing though, think that is my way of easing my spending guilt!   We helped my parents buy themselves an iMac too and that has now made me want an iPad mini so much!  I have an original iPad but don't make much use of it as it doesn't fit easily into most of my bags but the mini would.  Hurry up and release the next model please Apple!

What are your must have items from M&S this season?

That Friday Feeling

Oh my gosh! I am wearing an Emily & Fin dress, what a shocker!!  Sorry if you are getting fed up with seeing them, you should try living with me - they are all I am wearing at the moment.  Actually I make no apologies about this, the Abigail is so easy to wear and I absolutely adore this fabric and the colour combination.  It is the best of both worlds, it's figure fitting on my top half yet still allows me to eat cake without having to worry about the resulting food baby.  Told you it is perfect!

I am so happy it's the weekend!  We don't have much planned and it feels amazing, defo going to grab a curry at some point, mmmm.  I am hoping I get to wear my coat again this weekend, it has been far too warm this week.  I love this time of the year, it's almost October which means it's nearly bonfire night and then Christmas!! Less than three months to Christmas you guys, I had best get thinking about pressies.  I found the rest of the sparklers from our wedding the other day so am going to make sure they get used this bonfire night.  We usually go to a local display and I spend far too much time trying to get the perfect instagram photo and miss actually watching the fantastic fireworks.  Not this year, one photo and then I am going to actually watch the rest - brownie promise.

Dress: Emily & Fin
Cardigan: eBay
Boots: Lotus Shoes*

CK One Eye Shadow Review

Today I have a first for a million dresses - an eye shadow review.  I was asked if I would like to review a mystery product from CK One and said yes please thinking it would most likely be a new perfume as I had no idea they had a make up line, and these gorgeous eye shadows arrived!  I have to say this beauty blogging is hard work! Who knew getting photos of swatches and of my face without looking too much like a wally was so taxing!  Please be kind, this has been kinda stressful!  I have had a look through the range on Debenhams and have now added this quad, this lipstick and this nail polish to my wishlist.  The colours are fab and I love the sleek packaging.  Anyways onto the eye shadows...

The packaging confused me at first, I couldn't work out why I couldn't open the lid.  Until I realised it's a swivel lid, doh!  The top of the lids are clear so you can see the colour in each which is a big advantage if like me you hoard the same brand so they all end up looking the same and it takes forever to find the actual colour you are looking for.

Applied dry

Applied wet

100 Expose - a pretty nude pink
200 Obsessed - a dark aubergine purple
400 Ironic - a french navy blue

720 Evolved - a taupe brown
810 Fearless - a black shadow with gold glitter

The eye shadows are priced at £12 each and are available to buy from Debenhams

The eye shadows are highly pigmented and can be applied dry or wet for a more intense look.  They all have an element of shimmer which I personally prefer but I know some of you like your eye shadows matte.  I have been wearing Ironic, a french navy blue, wet along the lash line and it lasts all day without smudging.  This is definitely my favourite of the colours I tried and I definitely prefer to apply them wet.

Wednesday Wants

How cute is this spotty little River Island number?  Kinda grown up school girl, in the best possible way obviously.  Will look fab with a pair of burgundy boots and a slouchy cardigan.  It's a nice dark green colour, wonder if I will obsess over dark green again this A/W?!  It's limited edition and already sold out in a few prices, at just £22 it is a total steal.

Dress: River Island

I might have gotten a bit too excited when I spotted this beautiful cobalt blue dress!  I adore the colour, it is so striking and I think it looks great with my orange hair.  I also love crepe, it doesn't crease too badly and is a lovely weight so it always hangs really well.  I have a similar dress from Topshop from earlier in the year and it's fab!  Need to go find out what I have done with that brooch too, ooops!

Dress: Topshop

I love, love, love this version of the Abigail dress by Emily & Fin.  Purple is my favourite colour but is pretty hard to wear without looking either like a goth or a witch (imho!) but this print turns that on it's head and makes it gloriously girlie.  I am going to be making this mine with the help of a 10% off code from Aspire Style - million10  Don't forget you can enter my giveaway to win an Emily & Fin Dress here.

I've been looking longingly at a few watches this month and this one by Lulu Guiness is coming out on top at the moment, I do love a good bit of monochrome and this watch is the perfect mix of girlie with a hint of masculinity.  Way more affordable than one of their clutches and for me more practical.

I have tweeted a few times about wrinkles appearing recently, something which I guess is inevitable but which I kinda thought I was a bit immune to.  I do not use any fancy lotions or potions and asked for advice on twitter a week or so ago.  Boots No7 eye creams came highly recommended so I am giving one a go and keeping my fingers crossed that it works for me.  If not I am going to be hot footing it off to MYA for a bit of botox to chase the years away.  If you have found a reasonably priced miracle cream please let me know, I will love you forever!

Too Much Fun

A little (a lot) late with today's post.  I was suffering from the horriblest headache yesterday so couldn't face looking at the laptop screen when I returned home from a lovely weekend at Rosie's.  Big apologies to Char for sleeping most of the journey, it really was too bad to stay away.  Also sorry for snorting, haha!  I had a great weekend ignoring the stupid headache.  Lots of laughter, food and generally great company.

Earlier this month Gray took to the blog as part of a Chinos style challenge for F&F, voting has now opened and you can vote for your favourite looks here.   Gray is third from bottom and would love every vote you can give him.  You need to vote for your three favourites but I am sure Gray takes two of those spots! haha.

I have been eying up this dress for a while but as it is exclusive to Modcloth I have been putting off buying it.  I was hoping there would be an easier way to get my hands on it, seems odd having to ship a dress from America that was made by a British company.  Alas the only way I could make it mine was to give in and order it.  There are three other versions I really want so I thought I would do a test order to see how long it would take to arrive and how much it would end up costing me after import charges.  I went for the cheapest postage option and once converted the dress & postage cost me £62 which is pretty good - the dresses retail between £55-£59 here excluding any p&p charges.  The dress took just over a week to arrive, again that was really reasonable BUT I had to part with a further £18 in charges when I picked it up meaning it cost me around £20 more than if I had of been able to buy it in the UK, I don't know about you but I really cannot justify paying an extra third.  If only Modcloth would open a UK distribution centre, I would spend so many of my hard earned pennies with them if they did.  Modcloth have loads of the Lucy dress, they call it too much fun if you fancy searching.

Cardigan: M&S (V.Old)
Boots: Lotus Shoes*

I thought the spots were also blue but it turns out they are more of a minty green colour.  I decided to keep it simple and pair it with black tights, cardigan and boots.  This is defo a dress that will work well all year round and I love the way the Modcloth stylist has teamed it a yellow necklace though I am thinking yellow cardi!  Look at the abuse I have to put up from Gray whilst getting my outfits snapped, doesn't he take all the best photos :-/

Since visiting the Trollbeads head office last week I have been thinking of getting one of their beads and leather bracelet combos.  One of the designers was wearing one and it looked lush.  I am not one for multiple beads but loved the simplicity of a single bead and also loved that you could switch it about to co-ordinate with various outfit - something I love (over)doing!  I love this blue bead that I found on Market Cross Jewellers for a bargain price of £13, wouldn't it look fab with this dress!

X by Trollbeads

This week has been a bit of a whirlwind.  I was kindly invited on a trip to Copenhagen with some other lovely bloggers and journalists for the launch of X by Trollbeads.  For those of you who do not know Trollbeads was established in 1976 and the concept of 'bead on bracelet' was created by them.  The history of the company is really interesting, you can read about it here.  The only thing I knew about their new concept, X by Trollbeads, is that it was something different to their current product line and that the launch was based around unexpected combinations.  They did really well to keep it under wraps, I searched for any snippets of information and couldn't find a thing!

We had a few hours to explore Copenhagen, we didn't get to see much but what we did see was beautiful.  The sun was shining, it was absolutely glorious.  Everywhere was really clean and the buildings are amazing.  I adore the coloured buildings and the boats lined up in the quaint harbour.  It's on my must visit list for sure!

We stayed at the 71 Nyhavn Hotel which was wonderfully quirky and definitely somewhere I would stay again.  We also got to sample some of their cocktails and they are highly recommended!

We were then taken to the Trollbeads head office.  I am disappointed that I didn't get time to go around and snap the actual building and share it with you, it is truly amazing! Everything has been thought about but nothing over designed.  There are lots of round windows which represent the beads used in their bracelets.  We were also told that the staff eat lunch together every day and they have an amazing roof terrace which includes this window!

Of course it was perfect for us blogger types to sit in for snaps, it really had to be done!  Doesn't Amy look a picture!

I was told that I had made a good outfit choice with my polka dot dress as it fitted in with their bead theme, gold star for Sarah!

You might see a few versions of the group photo below... this is how many cameras were involved, haha!

 Amy / Louisa / Lucy / Me / Sheree / Tilly / Amy / Becca / Remi

On to the main event and the reason we were all there.  The new concept is based on the curb chain but with a twist.  The links are each created with an X-shaped beveled edge connection meaning they can be linked together easily allowing you to mix it up whenever it takes your fancy.   The launch collection features 73 X links and 2 locks.

The new range sees the introduction of new medias,  black rubber and bronze.  Neither are usually used in jewellery and add interest to the end result. The rubber doesn't feel or look like rubber to me, it makes a great contrast to the metals.  The main idea is you can create something that reflects your own individuality and end up with an unexpected combination by mixing the different links.  We all loved the end result when mixing the different metals.

We were then treated to lunch where we were seated on themed tables each created by one of the designers.  We were given a bracelet to take home with a link chosen by the designer at our respective table.  The charm I was given symbolises Karma and is pretty perfect.  Cyclical arrows show what goes around comes around.

Danish star Fallulah then took to the stage for a few songs, none of the British bloggers had heard of her but she is a pretty big deal in Denmark and I can totally see why!  Unfortunately Tilly and I had to leave before the opening of the flagship store to go catch our flight home.  I had an amazing time, a big thank you to Trollbeads for having me.

The links start at £1.30 for a rubber link and a stockist list can be found here.

Hey, Sailor

Something a little more summery today, I wore this a week or so ago though it seems like ages ago now I am happily snuggled up in my black opaques.  It's another Emily and Fin dress this time called Jessica.  I already have a Lucy in this fabric so held out for the sale and then snapped her up at Aspire.  They still have a couple available for the bargain price of £34.50 if you're quick.  Whenever I wear anything remotely nautical it always reminds me of Rosie and her tattoos, this dress would look great on her.  I have been wearing red a lot recently, I think it's the impact of my new coat!  I have to say I do love the way red looks with my hair though am still worried that red dress, coat and boots is a bit overkill ;)

Trainers: Converse

I've started digging through my brooch collection again, I wore the red felt heart that was attached to my wedding dress whilst in Copenhagen and have managed to find loads of lovely ones at Jon Richard.  I really like this one and this one from Mood.  They are still pretty hard to find but not as hard as a few years ago when I had to resort to making my own!

I'm off to spend the weekend at Rosie's, am so looking forward to a chilled weekend with Rosie and Char.  I am so exhausted after a very crazy week!
