Keep Or Return?

Another keep or return for you to help me with please lovelies.  I haven't actually ended up keeping any of the previous items, guess just writing the post helps with my decision making!  I am torn with this one.  I love the idea of it and loved it in the changing room but now I have got it home I'm very meh about it :(  I think that its just too bulky for me.  Maybe if it was in a lighter fabric then the volume of fabric would work on my body? I'm just not sure its flattering.

Oh and the boyfriend HATES it, he hates anything this shade of denim apparently.  He told me this about six months after we met (he waited until I had stopped wearing my favourite Warehouse denim skirt before telling me that he really didn't like it.  I had worn it most evenings as it was both comfy and flattering for chilling out in...)

What do you think?  I really like the panels around the bust and the shape of the sleeves but I just don't think it works on me in such a heavy fabric, River Island can you please make me the same style dress in a nice floaty chiffon or light cotton please? Ta!

I've just linked the dress on the RI website and found that it's just gone in the sale and is half price... either way it's going back but do I buy it again at sale price?!

Oh and a little heads up for those of you who loved my techno granny dress I have found it on the River Island website and its now £15 in the sale.  Strangely the website has it down as originally being £34.99 but mine was definitely not in the sale and priced as £19.99... BUT £15 IS AMAZING!!

  1. I think a demin more fitted dress would look better on you, you have got too fab a figure to waste on a dress like this!

  2. I like the panelling, but I think it makes you look bigger than you are, fitted dresses really suit you, you have a great figure, show it off!! xxx

  4. I really like the dress but I feel like it needs a belt around the middle to cinch it in a little bit more? The denim really suits you but it kind of just hangs, rather than fits nicely? xx

  5. I think fitted dresses suit you better because they show off your waist. Maybe it will look better with a belt?

  6. oooh tricky!
I had a shirt dress a few years ago and my ex hated it, he said it made me look like a mechanic hahaha but I loved it and wore it anyway!
I like the shape of the dress but it if was black with sheer sleeves it would be amazing.
I like it but like I said with the top/short dress if you aren't entirely sure you might not wear it too often xx

  7. I really like the sleeves and the panels but the shape doesn't flatter your great figure at all. xx

  8. I really hope this doesn't come across like one of those nasty comments that the Anons have a habit of leaving- just to clarify LOVE this blog and have seen some very pretty dresses- you inspired me to have a go at getting back to dress making... but....

I don't think this dress is particularly flattering. I'm with you on the fabric being a bit to heavy. It might work with a belt at the waist, but I still think the neckline isn't great and it so does not show the amazing hourglass you so often manage. For me, it's a return.

  9. I tried this dress on yesterday and sadly I looked like a sack of potatoes :o( The sleeves just made my arms look massive and it was a bit long so made me look a bit mumsy. It looks a lot better on you, but that said, I do think more fitted dresses are a lot more flattering on you, but we all need baggy smock days sometimes. ;o)

  10. Thanks girls! It doesn't work with a belt unfortunately, too much fabric & bulk!

@Fashion Junkie you certainly do not come across as nasty, I appreciate honesty and being honest doesn't mean you have to be a bitch :) Constructive critism is always welcome. I'm so happy that I've inspired you back into dress making and would love to see what you're making, do you blog about it?

  11. I'm not too keen hun, i don't think it's flattering on your figure and it looks a little too big on you. I reckon a more fitted one would look much better :).

  12. I don't think it's very flattering, too much fabric going on!

I'm very much believe that if you are really doubting a purchase and if it suits you should probably take it back because otherwise it'll end up sitting in the wardrobe forever not being worn if you do it wear it, you won't feel 100% comfortable in it.

  13. I agree with the other comments. It's a lovely dress but would be much better fitted. Don't hide such a gorgeous figure under it!
