I should have stayed in bed!

Today has been one of those days where I should have just stayed in bed!  I tried to make some more macaroons and only have two failed attempts to show for it :(  I thought the first batch were a total disaster until I saw the second... I piped the first batch too close together so some biscuits merged but I managed to salvage a dozen or so.  They were still nice and glossy and had feet... I dyed the second batch violet as I wanted to make some blueberry ones, they looked amazing, all evenly piped and a gorgeous colour.  15 minutes later no feet at all and dull lilac with no shine :(  I have given up for today.  Maybe I should stick to cupcakes after all...

Dress: Dahlia
Cardigan: Topshop

I'm still not sure if I like florals and stripes together but on the hunt for a cardigan this morning I rediscovered this Topshop one from last year and thought why not.  The Dahlia dress is the same as this one just a different colour way.  I don't have much time to blog due to most of my day being taken up by baking chaos.  And I don't have anything to show for it, don't you just hate it when that happens?!  To cheer myself up I have been looking at the new Dahlia stock that has landed on asos the Dahlia website in the last couple of days, I would like these ones please:

I'm off to go get ready for drinks and the cinema, have a lovely evening whatever you're doing xx

I quite like the florals & stripes together..
Don't worry about the macaroons, we all get our off days. I managed to burn porridge the other day!

  2. I'm not a fan of florals and stripes together but I do love both pieces separately!

Ahh, so the macaroons didn't work?! There was me thinking they were going to be failsafe and easy after reading your post about them first time round! I'm scared to try them tomorrow now! :D

  3. I'm loving the dress you're wearing, and the ones you've got your eye on too. Shame about the macaroons, I'm yet to try one, although I lived in France for a while, they never really hit my radar. Good luck for next time!

  4. Macaroons are notorious for being difficult and hit and miss :( I bet they tasted nice even though they didn't look the way you wanted.
Lovely outfit, the flower in your hair is cute!

  6. @Rebecca Lucy haha! Now I've not managed that yet... I'm such a perfectionist when it comes to baking so it's just annoying.

@Charlene Yeah I don't think they work together but I didn't leave the house whilst wearing it...

@Fashion Junkie I love Dahlia! Really? I'm sure the ones you can buy in France are better. The first batch I made were really nice so fingers crossed

@Gem I know but it's just so annoying when you have invested so much time and have nothing to show for it :( I will probs still fill them and eat them though! The purple ones are more like biscotti...

  8. I, for one, really like the stripes and floral print together, especially here on you! I think you did an amazing job of mixing them together...the neutral colors and subtle pattern of the sweater tones down the busy ditzy floral print. Nice job!

And I'd like dress number three, please! :)

  9. I love how you've mixed the different prints, I love a bit of a risk sometimes and if an outfit looks too perfect I like to subvert it somehow. I'm going to attempt some Red Velvet cupcakes today so I hope I don't mess them up as I've had to spend so much on ingredients!
